The region is home to five deep-sea ports – including Teesport, the UK’s largest chemical and Europe’s second biggest petrochemicals port.

Logistics services for freight are among the most efficient in the world. Intermodal routes are available through the region’s ports and both airports.

There are also ferries to Holland, Norway and Sweden via North Shields International Ferry Terminal.
