Support for Chinese Investors

A ‘soft landing’ scheme is available to reduce the difficulties and risks facing Chinese companies seeking to locate in North East England.

The scheme offers help with visa and immigration matters, legal issues, banking, accounting, marketing, business planning and other questions related to establishing a business in the UK.  A native mandarin speaker is also on hand to assist companies with any queries they may have.

North East England has the highest concentrations of Chinese companies in Europe outside London and it was the first English region to have an investment support office in China.

The region is also home to what is believed to be the largest Chinese Business Association in the UK.  The China Business Association (CBA) is a unique network set up with the aim of bringing together Chinese and local UK companies, as well as the wider community, in North East England. This is based at the Gateshead International Business Centre.  The Association organises meetings and events where ideas, views, concerns and experiences can be exchanged. It provides a contact point for outside agencies wishing to communicate with Chinese businesses, and it also encourages inter-trading between member businesses.
